Named after the Saxon bar world record holder, Sarah Chappelow, Sarah's Saxon has a thickness of 2.5", making it the perfect middle ground choice between the traditional 2" and 3" saxon bars. Some athletes, especially women, with smaller hand sizes find the 3" saxon bar to be too big, and some athletes with larger hand sizes find the 2" saxon bar to be too small.
Sarah has been pushing the frontier for women in the sport of grip for many years, and has also been a strong mentor and advocate for kids and all athletes within the grip community. She never ceases to impress everyone with her remarkable pinch strength, but more importantly she strives to inspire and encourage others to be their strongest self.
This saxon bar embodies Sarah's unique energy. Unlike the 2" and 3" thicknesses, the 2.5" thickness is rare to find in stock metal (hence the higher price point). Compared to common pinch blocks, this one has rounder edges, making it very comfortable to pinch and train for long periods of time.
Due to the material type, the bar weighs approximately 40 lbs (compared to 30 lbs of the 2" and 3" saxon bars). The pinching surface is 48" long. Each loading sleeve is 16" long and 1.9" in diameter (slightly more narrow than a traditional barbell sleeve). Please note that some lock collars may not fit on this specialty bar. We recommend grabbing a pair of our in-house lock collars or ensuring that your own can accommodate the 1.9" sleeve diameter.
All sleeves are kept to raw steel, due to them being subject to constant metal on metal contact.
