This is no ordinary block pinch. When your thumb is on the pivoting side, you cannot rely on friction to keep your thumb on the pinch block. This forces the thumb to squeeze hard on every rep. Your thumb will feel the pain and your pinch strength will see the gain.
The Croc Block is a top-loaded implement and requires an open-top loading pin (sold separately here). Top-loading isolates the thumb by removing the wrist's involvement. The top-loading also keeps the Croc Block in the right position to lift, so you can pump out reps as fast as your poor thumb can handle. Additionally, the lack of friction on the thumb means your session won't be cut short by mere skin wounds.
Like a threatening crocodile, the jaws of the Croc Block will slowly open as your thumb tires. There are no free reps on the Croc Block. When your thumb is done, those jaws are going to snap shut and out of your hand. Best of luck!
During testing, athletes were able to lift about 1/3 of the weight they are able to lift from a regular pinch block of the same width. All 3 different widths proved to be helpful for all hand sizes because the thumb and finger knuckle angles change from block to block and thereby diversifying the training. However, if you had to pick one, we'd recommend the 2.5" as this is the middle ground and is also a commonly contested width in grip competitions.
If you're looking for other widths, please contact us and we'll be happy to help!
