Nemesis Grips, Canada Grip Sport and CrossFit Closer are teaming up to host the upcoming 2027 Canada National Grip Sport Championships! This will be the first time in Canadian history for Nationals to be held over 2 days, feature an all-Canadian made line-up of 8 events, and require qualifications to participate.
General information:
Dates: May 1-2, 2027 (Sat and Sun)
Saturday Schedule: Doors open at 10 AM. Weigh-in and warm-up between 10-11:30 AM. Announcements at 11:30 AM. Lifting starts at 12 PM. Finish around 6 PM.
Sunday Schedule: Doors open at 8 AM. Announcements at 9:30 AM. Lifting starts at 10 AM. Finish around 4 PM.
Location: CrossFit Closer (103 Schneider Rd, Kanata, ON K2K 1Y3)
Registration fee (all proceeds go directly towards event costs and awards):
$120 - early bird
$135 - Jan 1, 2027 onwards
$150 - Mar 1, 2027 onwards

Weight Classes:
Men Weight Classes: 59 kg, 66 kg, 74 kg, 83 kg, 93 kg, 105 kg, 120 kg, 120+ kg, Masters (50+ years old)
Women Weight Classes: 57 kg, 72 kg, 72+ kg, Masters (50+ years old), additional classes may open if enough athletes register
Prizes:
• Trophies for top 3 competitors in each class.
• Trophies for top 6 overall men and women, plus Nemesis Grips store credit prize as follows:
1st place: $300
2nd place: $250
3rd place: $200
4th place: $150
5th place: $100
6th place: $50
• Draw prizes, to be randomly selected and distributed throughout both days.
• Additional sponsorships from the community are welcomed.
Records:
Individual athlete results will be recorded within the Grip Sport International (GSI) database, Canada Grip Sport Rankings, and/or nemesisgrips.ca.
Qualification:
Must be a resident of Canada and meet 1 of the following:
• Top 3 finish at a Canadian GSI regional championship during the period between June 1st 2026 and April 1st 2027
• Top 3 Canadian finish in each weight class at the 2026 International King Kong Grip Challenge
• Top third finish (rounded up) in a contested class at any GSI-sanctioned contest during the period between June 1st 2026 and April 1st 2027
